The current version of Eve Thermo supports Thread. This technology makes your smart home network more responsive, robust, and increases its reach – the only thing you need is a home hub (Thread border router). Battery-operated Thread accessories, such as Eve Thermo, represent endpoints in your Thread network. 

By contrast, mains-powered Full Thread Devices (or FTDs) that are always on, such as Eve Energy, Eve Energy Outdoor, Eve Light Switch or Eve Water Guard, can act as router nodes within your Thread network and relay data packets. Currently, schedules cannot be suspended under Matter. Therefore, if both location-based heating and schedules are active, the schedules will "overwrite" the temperature set by presence or absence at the next scheduled event.

If you want to prevent heating when you are away, you can do this by creating a manual automation that is activated instead of the Eve function Location-Based Heating. To do this, create a scene that is activated when you leave the house and switches Eve Thermo off (Mode: Off). Note: Depending on the outside temperature and insulation of the home, this may result in undercooled rooms. A second scene, activated when you come back home, sets the mode back to On.

First create the scenes: In Eve \> Automation \> Scenes \> Tap Add Scene \> Tap Add Actions \> Select Eve Thermo, set Mode = Off \> Tap Add \> Tap Add Actions again if necessary, add more Eve Thermo and set Mode to Off in each case \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Name the scene \> Tap Done.

In Eve \> Automation \> Scenes \> Tap Add Scene \> Tap Add Actions \> Select Eve Thermo, set Eve Thermo Mode = On (you can also add a target temperature) \> Tap Add \> If necessary, tap Add Actions again to select additional Eve Thermo, set the mode to On and the target temperature to the value you want or tap Next \> Name the scene \> Tap Done.

Then create the rules: In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Please select the option 'Leaving [home]’ with the option that suits you \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Now please either select an additional condition or tap Next again \> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo off \> Name the rule \> Tap Done.

In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Select 'Arriving [home]' here, with the option that suits you best \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Now please either select an additional condition or tap Next \> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo on \> Name the rule \> Tap Done.

Eve Thermo’s window detection function in conjunction with Eve Door & Window is still available, but currently does not work properly under Matter. This function is in progress and will be added to the app at a later date.

For now, create an automation in which a rule activates a scene when the window is opened that sets Eve Thermo to Mode: Off, supplemented by a second rule that sets Eve Thermo to Mode: On when the window is closed via a corresponding scene. Yes. AA batteries keep Eve Thermo powered even in the event of a power outage. Eve Thermo doesn’t use cloud-based technology either – instead, it communicates directly with your iPhone or HomeKit home hub. And even when your iPhone isn’t within range, Eve Thermo will continue to work autonomously using the schedules you added thanks to these being stored on the accessory itself. You can also control Eve Thermo manually whenever you want.

This device does not require a hub for control right from your iPhone or iPad. Depending on what you want to do, a hub will unlock more advanced functionality:
