How to increase the reach of your Eve accessories
Impeccably interconnected with Thread
More and more Eve accessories are supporting the Thread networking standard, enabling you to create a mesh network so your devices can talk directly to each other. Simply use any wall-powered Eve accessory, such as Eve Energy, and it will expand your network’s reach automatically with zero hassle.
All you need to set up a Thread network in your own home is a Thread Border Router – a task performed by HomePod mini or the new Apple TV 4K. This now makes it a breeze to increase your network’s reach. So if you want to place an accessory like Eve Aqua in your back yard, you’re free to do so without needing to be within reach of your home hub – simply leverage an Eve Energy's router capability. That way you extend your Thread network automatically so it reaches right into your back yard to your Eve Weather, plus you can control your floor lamp or any other electrical item plugged into Eve Energy. Use home hubs to extend your network the conventional way
If you have an Eve accessory that isn’t Thread-enabled, there’s also a really easy way to increase its reach simply by using any HomeKit home hub. It will connect automatically to Bluetooth-enabled Eve accessories in its vicinity – so if one of your Eve accessories is located beyond the reach of your network, you can connect to it such as by placing a HomePod mini close by. You don’t have to go through the hassle of setting anything up here either – all the home hubs talk to each other automatically behind the scenes for a perfect connection in your home.

What is Eve Extend?
We launched Eve Extend long before there was any talk of Thread in the HomeKit universe. Back then the conventional way to increase your network’s reach – namely by using additional home hubs – was significantly more expensive than it is today with the HomePod mini.
With Eve Extend you could increase the reach of Bluetooth-based Eve accessories – something HomePod mini does reliably and automatically in its stride. With the new generations of Eve accessories, the problem has solved itself thanks to Thread support. This is why Eve Extend has been discontinued. If you want to increase the reach of your Eve accessory, discover here if your accessory supports Thread.

What is the current firmware release number for Eve energy? I presume updates are automatic, however, I’d like to check because of a history of Eero router issues not allowing some of my legacy (Wemo) devices to call home.- Reply
Hello Friedrich! The latest firmware for Eve Energy (US, 4th generation) is: 2.1.1 (2854). It is of causer not updated automatically as you have the choice. Open the app Eve and look for a red dot above Settings and follow it to the update. Best regards, Volker- Reply
Is there any possibility we’ll see a UK version of Eve Energy Strip at some point, perhaps with Thread?- Reply
Hello Allan! I have no information on an Eve Energy Strip UK version, sorry. We think especially the combination of Thread & Matter is a game-changer for the smart home, that’s why we’re thrilled to bring Matter to our Thread-enabled products in the future. At this point, we don’t have any plans to share for our Wi-Fi-enabled products.Best regards, Volker

I have bought an Eve Aqua and it’s about 50 feet from my HomePod Mini. There’s a concrete wall then open terrace. The accessory is Not Responding. I bought 2 Eve Energy and an Eve Weather and I’m still facing the same problem. The only way it works is by placing the HomePod mini in line of sight at 12 feet away. This is not the way I envisioned the mesh to work. Something doesn’t make sense and I don’t want to place my HomePod permanently in that location because it’s gonna get wet.- Reply
Hello Georgie! Only powered Thread enabled accessories can expand the Thread network, please check the blog post on the topic. Please use the two Eve Energy half way between the HomePod mini and the Eve Aqua/Weather.If this does not work, please open a ticket in support: https://www.evehome.com/en/support/ticket

What are your plans for including Thread in Eve Motion? While the current product works, the delay between sensing motion and turning on lights via a HomeKit automation is too long. I suspect that’s because the distance between Eve Motion and my HomePod Mini is too far or there are too many walls between the two. I’m unable to easily relocate the HomePod Mini. Thread, I hope, will resolve the issue for me. Thanks! David- Reply
Hello David! Thank you for contacting Eve Systems and your interest in our Eve Motion. The current generation of Eve Motion is not ready for Thread. We will be releasing new hardware generations of many Eve devices with Thread support within the next months, but unfortunately can't give any further details on when this will be the case for Eve Motion at this time. Here's a list of all the currently available Thread-enabled Eve accessories:

Are there any plans for new thread devices coming in 2021? Specifically the Eve Room or Eve Light Switch (NA). I have heard from others that they may be coming in late 2021. However, we are reaching the end of the year and with no new updates I am concerned we won't see those products soon. Please let us know if possible! Thank you!Sincerely, Andrew
