New Model of Eve Water Guard adds Thread Support
San Francisco – February 22, 2022 – Eve today announced the second generation of Eve Water Guard, enhancing the award winning water leak detector with support for the trailblazing Thread networking technology specifically developed for smart home applications. Using a 6.5 ft / 2 m sensing cable that can be extended to an incredible 490 ft / 150 m, Eve Water Guard detects water leaks and alerts you instantly – visually, audibly and via a notification on your iPhone.
Eve Water Guard supports Thread and Bluetooth, and joins your Thread network automatically. As a router node, Eve Water Guard relays other Thread accessories’ data packages and enhances the stability and reach of your smart home. Thread is also a pillar of the new Matter standard, and Eve already offers the largest lineup of Thread-enabled HomeKit accessories today. Eve Water Guard is Eve’s eleventh product featuring this technology.

It monitors large areas of your room thanks to its supplied 6.5 ft / 2 m sensing cable that serves as a full-length sensor – and if that’s not enough, you can extend it up to an incredible 490 ft / 150 m. Lay it in loops or rings to monitor every nook and cranny of your room, leaving nowhere for water to leak out or pool undetected.
In case of an alarm, Eve Water Guard can engage other HomeKit accessories. Create a rule that makes Eve Energy switch off your washing machine to stop even more water flooding out.

Thread technology is specifically developed for smart home applications to improve connectivity between accessories. Now, HomeKit products can communicate not only using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but also using HomeKit over Thread. The big difference with this technology is that Thread creates a mesh network.
