Currently, schedules cannot be suspended under Matter. Therefore, if both location-based heating and schedules are active, the schedules will "overwrite" the temperature set by presence or absence at the next scheduled event.

If you want to prevent heating when you are away, you can do this by creating a manual automation that is activated instead of the Eve function Location-Based Heating. To do this, create a scene that is activated when you leave the house and switches Eve Thermo off (Mode: Off). Note: Depending on the outside temperature and insulation of the home, this may result in undercooled rooms. A second scene, activated when you come back home, sets the mode back to On.

First create the scenes: In Eve \> Automation \> Scenes \> Tap Add Scene \> Tap Add Actions \> Select Eve Thermo, set Mode = Off \> Tap Add \> Tap Add Actions again if necessary, add more Eve Thermo and set Mode to Off in each case \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Name the scene \> Tap Done.

In Eve \> Automation \> Scenes \> Tap Add Scene \> Tap Add Actions \> Select Eve Thermo, set Eve Thermo Mode = On (you can also add a target temperature) \> Tap Add \> If necessary, tap Add Actions again to select additional Eve Thermo, set the mode to On and the target temperature to the value you want or tap Next \> Name the scene \> Tap Done.

Then create the rules: In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Please select the option 'Leaving [home]’ with the option that suits you \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Now please either select an additional condition or tap Next again \> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo off \> Name the rule \> Tap Done.

In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Select 'Arriving [home]' here, with the option that suits you best \> Tap Add \> Tap Next \> Now please either select an additional condition or tap Next \> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo on \> Name the rule \> Tap Done.

Eve Thermo’s window detection function in conjunction with Eve Door & Window is still available, but currently does not work properly under Matter. This function is in progress and will be added to the app at a later date.

For now, create an automation in which a rule activates a scene when the window is opened that sets Eve Thermo to Mode: Off, supplemented by a second rule that sets Eve Thermo to Mode: On when the window is closed via a corresponding scene. In Eve \> Automation \> Scenes \> Please tap Add scene \> Tap Add Actions \> Select Eve Thermo: Mode = On \> Tap Add \> If you want to add more Eve Thermo, please tap Add Actions again \> Select another Eve Thermo: Mode = On \> Tap on Add\> Tap Next or add more Eve Thermo \> Name the scene \> Tap Done.

Then create the rules: In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Please tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Contact \> Eve Door & Window = Open \> Tap Add \> Now either tap Add Trigger again to add another Eve Door & Window or: Tap Next \> Tap Next or add a condition\> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo off \> Tap Next \> Name the rule \> Done

In Eve \> Automation \> Rules \> Please tap Add Rule \> Tap Next \> Tap Add Trigger \> Contact \> Eve Door & Window = Closed \> Tap Add \> Now either tap Add Trigger again to add another Eve Door & Window or: Tap Next \> Tap Next or add a condition\> Select the scene that switches Eve Thermo on \> Tap Next \> Name the rule \> Done

If re-adding the device via Matter after the firmware upgrade does not succeed, please reset it. After the reset, try adding it again and make sure you’re using the correct Matter Setup Code provided to you at the beginning of the upgrade process. Note: iCloud and iCloud Keychain are required to add Matter devices to Apple Home. Make sure they are turned on in your iPhone’s settings.

To check if your device has been upgraded successfully, go to Settings > Accessories > your device > Details > Compatibility – this will indicate whether your device has been upgraded to Matter.

After the upgrade process, it may take a while until custom features like energy consumption or event logs appear in the Eve app. 

Please make sure you have updated your iPhone and home hub to software version 16.4. If the issue persists, restarting your home hub may improve reliability.

In order to update an Eve device from HomeKit to Matter, you have to use the Eve app for HomeKit. Once your Eve device has been upgraded to Matter, you can grant every family member local and direct access to it – no matter which voice assistant or app they prefer. 

Eve devices that are compatible to HomeKit only require the Eve app running on an iOS device to apply firmware updates.

Every platform in a Matter smart home needs its own Matter controller. In Apple Home, HomePod (2nd gen.), HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K (2nd gen. / 3rd gen. 128 GB) qualify as Matter controllers. They also act as Thread Border Routers, connecting your Eve devices to your home network.

The entire lineup of Thread-enabled Eve devices will receive free Matter firmware updates over time. We don't have a timeline and order to share at this time. To see at a glance which Eve devices have received upgrades to Matter visit evehome.com/identify and subscribe to our newsletter. 

Yes you can. For automations, Apple Home makes no difference whether your devices were added to your home through HomeKit or Matter.

Once you have updated your Eve device to Matter, open Apple Home, press and hold the tile of your device and choose Accessory Details. Tap the gear icon in the lower right corner. Tap Turn on Pairing Mode. Wait for Apple Home to display the Setup Code and use it on your secondary platform to connect your device. For the secondary platform, a compatible Matter controller of that platform will be required.

Upgrading to Matter is worthwhile if you want to control your Eve devices from an additional platform. This requires a Matter controller of this platform. If your household uses Apple devices exclusively, upgrading to Matter is optional, and your Eve devices' feature set or performance will remain unchanged.

Currently, iPhone users can upgrade selected Eve devices to Matter using the Eve app. Eve-specific, custom functionality will be preserved. Please note that once you've upgraded your device to Matter, you can't migrate it back to HomeKit. 

Features like energy monitoring, historical data and on-device schedules are unique to Eve and are currently not supported by all platforms. While iPhone and iPad users will keep those features when upgrading, they may not be supported from the start on other platforms. Stay tuned.
