Eve 5 is here

Eve 5 is now available in the App Store, embracing the latest and greatest technologies for an even better app experience.

Built for 14

First and foremost, Eve now builds on the capabilities of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to lay a rock-solid foundation for future updates. This means a couple of visual improvements, as well: Eve now utilizes the screen resolutions of iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max perfectly, and iPad users can admire a new, fully native sidebar. We’ve also thrown in a dark app icon alternative that you can enable by heading to Settings > Appearance.

Built for the Mac

When Apple announced the changes coming to the Mac platform, we didn’t think twice and immediately went to work to make sure Eve shines on the newest generation of Macs, as well. With Eve 5 and a Mac with a M1 chip, you can now enjoy all the power of a full-fledged HomeKit app with the comfort of your mouse, keyboard and big screen.

How to install Eve 5 on your Mac: On your Mac with a M1 processor, start Safari and open https://apps.apple.com/us/app/eve-for-homekit/id917695792. Click “View in Mac App Store” and get Eve 5.

Built for privacy

We applaud Apple’s continued efforts to raise the bar for privacy, and couldn’t be happier about the new privacy information presented for every app in the App Store. Eve has always been synonymous with privacy, and you’ll see that reflected in the now publicly disclosed app privacy section. As before, rest assured that Eve does not harvest your personal data, and that your data will never be analyzed or used for advertising purposes. Learn more

Built for you

If you’ve already invited Eve into your home, you may have already noticed that we never stop improving and looking for useful features to add. This release is no different, making the accessories you already own even better:

• The schedule editor of Eve Thermo has been further improved.
Eve Light Strip now supports schedules.
• The secondary information display for Eve Degree and Eve Room has been refined.

We hope you enjoy this release of the Eve app — see you in 2021!

Hallo!

On my MacBook Air M1 when I went to the App Store the Eve App just said "Purchased" and had no option to get the App, which was already installed on my iPhone. I had to sign out of the App Store then the "Get" option was shown. When clicking "Get" followed by "Install" it prompted to log back into the App Store and downloaded all OK. The Eve App is now working fine on my M1 MacBook!

Hello Mike! Glad it worked finally. We used the usual way and could download, even when already having it on iPhone & iPad:
Eve 5 is a Universal App for iPhone and iPad. A M1 based Mac can run the iPad version of Eve 5, and we've adapted it to make sense on the Mac. This is not a Catalyst app, so it won't run on an Intel Mac. A version for Intel Macs is not planned yet.
Here's how to get the Eve 5 version running on your M1 Mac:
1. Open the App Store on the M1-Mac and enter the search term Eve in the upper left corner.
2. You will get results for Eve, our app is not there.
3. Under "Results for Eve" you will find two tabs, 'Mac apps' and 'iPhone & iPad apps'. Select iPhone & iPad Apps - now Eve will be displayed.
4. Open Eve for HomeKit from the list of found apps and download it.
5. Open Eve for HomeKit on the M1 Mac, you may optional keep it permanently in the dock.

I wish you a great weekend, volker

Hoffentlich kommt da noch was...

Hallo Bane!

How can I sort Rooms or Types on the iPad app? With the new layout of v5 that functionality seems to be missing?

So no support for non M1 Macs?

That sucks, I bought a new computer earlier this year and hopefully won't be upgrading for several more years.

Do you plan to eventually also release support for Eve on Big Sur for those of us still on Intel Macs? (I understand that would need to be a Mac Catalyst app requiring a recompile when compared to the current Eve 5.)

Will the Thread network only work with a HomePod, and not with an Apple TV?

Hello Casper! This is a question you should address Apple. As of today only the HomePod mini has a Thread Border Router integrated. Best regards, Volker

Hello Stanley! No we don't just check Amazon but make sure to look for LS14250 1/2 AA with 3.6 V not the ones wit just 3 V. Best regards, Volker
